[VINCENNES, May 9, 2017] – The Vincennes Elks gave a donation to the YMCA of Vincennes in the amount of $2,500. The funds are received to contribute to two specific Y programs: 3rd Grade Water Safety and the Kids Triathlon. The check from the Vincennes Elks was presented to Tiffany Petts, Aquatics Director, YMCA of Vincennes, and Interim CEO of the YMCA, Joe LaRocca, by Elks members Mike Nardine, Jim Gislason and Vern Houchins.

The programs designated for this donation are specific to the youth in our community. The Y’s 3rd Grade Water Safety program offers free water safety classes to area 3rd graders. Each 3rd grade class spends one hour per day for one week learning lifesaving skills in and around water.

The Kids Triathlon, an event to bolster the confidence and help set healthy habits in our children, will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Gregg Park. Each participant will swim, bike and run through Gregg Park testing their confidence and endurance.
