YMCA of Vincennes Adds Pickleball to List of Activities

 [Vincennes, May 12, 2017]—The YMCA of Vincennes is happy to announce the addition of a new activity geared for all ages, Pickleball. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines badminton, tennis, and table tennis into one game and uses a ball similar to a wiffle ball is used. A game for any fitness level and of any age can plays this game.

A Pickleball court is now in place in the second gym of the Y and has open play times Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Equipment for the Pickleball, racquets and balls, are available at the front desk. Play times are on a first come, first serve basis only. Free to members, non-members will need to purchase a day pass.

To introduce Pickleball to Y members and the community, we will be hosting a free clinic, open to everyone, on the basics of the game. The clinic will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. in Gym 2 of the YMCA of Vincennes. No pre-registration is required.

“Pickleball is a game we are excited to bring to our Y,” commented Bridgett Bilskie, Marketing Director, YMCA of Vincennes. “It is a great way to involve individuals of any age to come together for a fun way to stay active. I believe we will see all age groups take advantage of this court, including families and grandparents and grandchildren enjoy time together. At the Y, we look to incorporate activities that focus on three areas: healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. This is an activity that we want to use to foster the growth of all three of those areas.”
