WATER SAFETY TIPS

  1. Never swim alone. Teach your children that they should only swim in locations where a lifeguard is on duty.
  2. Supervise your children whenever they’re in water. Whether it’s bath time or taking a dip in a pool or lake, make sure your children are within arm’s reach at all times.
  3. Don’t engage in breath holding activities. Children shouldn’t hold their breath for a prolonged amount of time while swimming, as this can cause drowning and has several other severe physical side-effects.
  4. Wear a Life Jacket: Inexperienced or non-swimmers should wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
  5. Don’t jump in the water to save a friend who is struggling in deep water. If a child finds their friend

in deep

water unexpectedly, their natural reaction may be to jump in the water to try to save them.

  1. Enroll your children in water safety or swim lessons. Just like teaching your children to look both ways

before they cross the street, participating in formal water safety lessons teaches them an important life skill.

Learning how to swim also has multiple benefits beyond the ability to enjoy water safely. It helps children strive for physical achievement, promotes healthy living and builds their confidence.

For Youth Development: Summer Day Camp

LUNCH WILL BE SERVED TO ALL CAMPERS AT SUMMER DAY CAMP! We are teaming up with SodexInformation for the upcoming session of Summer Day Camp begins May 29! Camp forms are now available online at vincennesymca.org. Registration for camp may be done throughout the summer too!

For Healthy Living: Core De Force

You now have another group fitness class to meet your needs – Core De Force! Held on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 5:30am, a core focused workout, inspired by the highest-octane sport in the world—mixed martial arts combines authentic Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai moves, explosive power moves, interval training. Join Michelle James is this exciting new class! Class is FREE for Members and Non-Members must purchase a day pass.

For Healthy Living: REFIT

Join Anna for our newest group fitness class: REFIT! You will experience a class that rocks your body, heart and soul with powerful moves and positive music, that inspires you from the inside out. It is the perfect routine for beginners and fitness enthusiasts designed to work everybody and every body.

REFIT will be held on Mondays at 6:45pm in Gym 2. All group fitness classes are FREE for members and non-members can purchase a day pass.

For Social Responsibility: YMCA/Memering Motorplex Scholarship Golf Outing
