Tom Held from the Knox County Soil & Water Conservation District visited the YMCA Summer Day Camp to talk about the food chain and owls.

Tom showed pictures of different varieties of owls and brought a specimen. He reminded campers that an owl can’t go to McDonald’s for lunch like they can. The kids learned that owls use their talons to catch food, which includes mice and other animals that live on the forest floor. Kids looked at owl pellets to find bones and put together bones to see what the owl had eaten.
