The first project craft that I coordinated for Summer Day Camp was a grass head. These were easy to do and it was a lot of fun to watch them grow “hair”. The kids learned that soil, water and sunlight make the grass grow.
Materials needed:
- grass seed
- nylon tights
- soil
- craft eyes, nose and mouth
- craft decorations
- some kind of pot with no holes
Put 2-3 generous tablespoons full of grass seed at the bottom of the tights. Add soil. Tie the bottom of the tights. Add eyes nose and mouth. Place in the pot. Add water and place in a sunny spot.
