Giving back and providing support to our neighbors
We know that when we work as one, we move people and communities forward. That’s why we are committed to providing support to our neighbors and opportunities for kids, adults and families to give, join in or advocate in the name of stronger communities.
At the Y, building a strong community begins at home. Our Y helps people develop life-saving skills through 3rd Grade Water Safety, diverse populations connect to the community while riding VanGo, and individuals gain access to critical support through our Adult Day Service program. Children and adults gather at our community garden and Camp Green to learn to live healthier and take better care of the environment. As an interconnected community network, the Y has the resources and solutions to build bridges and make our changing communities stronger.
The generosity of others is at the core of our existence. It is only through the support of our volunteers and donors that we are able to give back to the communities we serve.
At the Y, we work closely with other community organizations to make Knox County a better place for everyone. As a result, we are able to make positive change around a range of social issues including:
– Improving bicycle safety through involvement with Keep Vincennes Rolling
– Implementing drug prevention programs in cooperation with the Local Coordinating Council for a Drug Free Knox County
